Jonah Goldberg is a funny guy, but he had a serious thought about this business about hiking the minimum wage:
My thought exactly! Well, okay - that's not the serious part.
He goes on to talk about technology replacing servers at restaurants, such as a computer tablet with the current meals du jour into which diners key their orders which are then cooked and brought to them. No smarmy or surly waiters, no "I'll have to check on that" or "You guys..." or a kid behind the counter with acne who is texting his/her significant other and not paying much attention to you. It works for $.42/hour vs. $15/hour or whatever hourly wage the President and his minions can dream up.
Great idea! Bring on the robots! Even more entry-level and low-skill folks will be put out of jobs. Minimum wage jobs are not meant to be career positions! Is it any wonder that the economy stinks and will continue this way with these geniuses at the controls?
